Google has announced a new feature in webmaster tools that enables “associates” i.e. trusted users to act on behalf of your site on other Google Products. We all know that these associates cannot view the website data or take any action in Webmaster Tools like the website owner, but through this new feature these associates will be able to perform specific functions in other Google Products.
To make this simpler, a website that is listed on webmaster tools and has accounts on social networks like twitter and YouTube can now associate these accounts with the webmaster tools. Through this feature, the visitors have a confidence that they are actually associated with the same website.
Presently, the members of the YouTube Partner Program are able to associate their YouTube channels with the webmaster tools. The YouTube channel becomes the official channel for the website.
